About Napier
Napier is Hawke’s Bay’s port and New Zealand's art deco city. Rebuilt in this style in the 1930s after a devastating earthquake, the city has a vibrant culture and offers many opportunities to sample local cuisine at the many restaurants and cafés.
The land surrounding Napier is home to over 75 vineyards in the Hawke’s Bay region, providing a broad range of wines from Chardonnay, to Pinot Gris and Cabernet. Many vineyards are open to the public for tastings, buying and in many cases a meal filled with fresh, locally grown and expertly prepared produce. Napier road trips
Not ignoring the Hawke’s Bay Wine Country Food Trail and award winning wineries, there are several lovely drives from Napier, both short and more leisurely.
Cape Kidnappers, Te Mata Peak and Hastings are just a short drive from the city and can be combined into a great one or two day trip. Travel north on State Highway 2 to Gisborne and stop off at Lake Waikaremoana, or head south to Porangahau for secluded beaches and abundant fish life at the Te Angiangi Marine Reserve.

Domestic flights are the specialty of national airline Air New Zealand. They provide the most comprehensive range of flights all around New Zealand, as well as international flights to Australia, South West Pacific, Asia, North America, Europe and the United Kingdom.
