About Northland
Stretching almost 400 kilometres from the Kaipara Harbour north to Cape Reinga, Northland is a kaleidoscope of stunning vistas, quaint villages and sparsely populated settlements bursting with cultural experiences and history.
There are scores of historic sites to visit as well as numerous walking tracks to explore. Horse treks, scenic and charter flights, 4WD trips, fabulous golf courses, and arts and crafts centres are also favourite attractions that make the Northland region one of New Zealand's most popular tourist destinations.
The region’s only city, Whangarei, is an ideal place for you to relax and visit art shops and interesting museums and is also a great base from which to explore the rest of the sunny north. You can get a Budget rental in Whangarei City or even at Whangarei Airport, and head toward Kerikeri, a town well known for its arts and crafts trail, as well as quality shopping and numerous cafés and restaurants.
