About Picton
The quaint town of Picton is the entry point for most travellers to the South Island as it is where the Interislander ferry arrives and departs from/to Wellington. Picton road trips
From Picton you can head in either direction for an amazing journey through the South Island countryside. Travelling west to Nelson will have you pass the south bank of the Queen Charlotte Sound and many seaside towns.
Going south should be taken as a leisurely drive to allow time for the Marlborough Wine trail and Blenheim, as well as the views north from Cape Campbell, before heading down toward coastal Kaikoura to enjoy whale and dolphin watching just off the shoreline.
