About Rotorua
If there’s one thing Rotorua is geared up for, it’s fun! And of course, the world famous boiling mud pools and the signature sulphurous steam venting from thermal pools, fissures and geysers are not to be missed while in Rotorua, and can be seen at many sites around the city.
Rotorua road trips
Just south of Rotorua, and well worth a drive even if just for the view, are the beautiful Blue (Tikitapu) and Green (Rotokakahi) Lakes. While the Green Lake is tapu (out of bounds to people) the Blue Lake is great for both sailing and water skiing.
Breathtaking scenery also awaits you at Lake Tarawera. Another of Rotorua’s lakes, it offers tranquillity, sparkling water, stunning scenery, water sports, fishing and hot water beach, where you can enjoy your own natural spa pool.
