Budget Rent a Car is concerned about our customers' safety. There are precautions you can take to ensure a safe and pleasant journey.

At the Airport or Budget Office

• Review maps and other visitor information before leaving the rental car area. Reading a map while driving is dangerous. Our front counter staff is happy to assist with directions.
• At airports, rental car plazas or other transportation terminals, do not leave luggage unattended. If there is more than one person in your party, assign someone to stay with the bags. Only the renter and any additional drivers are required to rent the car.
  

Your Rental Vehicle

• Familiarise yourself with the vehicle's safety equipment, including hazard lights, windshield wipers, the spare tire, seat belts and door locks.
• Make sure the vehicle always has plenty of petrol.
  

Safe Winter Driving

• Drive with headlights on whenever visibility is poor.
• DO NOT exceed 25kph with snow chains.
• Take special care with following distances and speed.
• Black Ice is extremely dangerous. Look for road signs warning of ice and be cautious of areas in permanent shadow.
• Winter sun is low lying and can cause prolonged glare... use sunglasses and keep your windscreen clean and washer refilled.
• Reduce speed when driving in rain and increase braking distance. Use low gear when driving through light surface flooding.
• Note that the road to Skipper’s Canyon is prohibited for all rental vehicles. Insurance cover is void on this road.
